ICARA in Practice: From Risk Assessment to Capital Allocation

ICARA in Practice: From Risk Assessment to Capital Allocation
About This Session
While many investment firms focus on the capital and liquidity outputs of the ICARA process, supervisory expectations increasingly focus on the underlying risk management framework that supports those outcomes.
This webinar provides a practical overview of how firms can identify, assess, monitor and manage material harms, and translate those risks into capital and liquidity requirements as part of the ICARA process.
The session will explore the key components of an effective risk management framework within ICARA process, including risk governance, risk appetite, risk registers, capital allocation methodologies, recovery planning and the integration of risk management into strategic decision-making.
In this session we will explore:
- Designing an effective risk management framework under IFR/IFD.
- Identifying and assessing material harms and prudential risks.
- Developing and maintaining risk registers.
- Establishing risk appetite statements, limits and tolerances
- Applying probability versus impact methodologies for risk assessment.
- Using risk management tools, metrics and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
- Allocating capital and liquidity to material risks.
- Linking risk assessments to ICARA conclusions and financial resource requirements.
- Common supervisory findings and examples of good practice.
